After a break from participation, Woods finished 43rd in the Women’s 20 km walk at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. It had been eleven weeks since she had given birth to her son Harvey.

Tallent won his first Olympic medal in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, finishing third in the 20 km walk.

After placing second in the 50 km walk a week later, Tallent became the first Australian to win two athletic awards in the same Olympics since 1972. Likewise, he also became the first male Australian race walker to do it in 102 years.

At the World Championships in Athletics of 2009, he placed sixth and seventh in the 20 km, and 50 km walks. Tallent made a comeback in 2010 when he won a bronze medal facilitation in the 50 km race walk at the 24th World Race Walking Cup in Chihuahua, Mexico.
